A Note About Your Privacy
Returning callers are recognized by a scrambled identifier, not a saved phone number. As with any phone service, the phone system and our provider may keep normal call records, including caller ID. Calls aren’t recorded, and your number is never sold or used for marketing.
No AI is listening. The voices were generated ahead of time, and no caller audio, phone numbers, or call data are shared with AI services.

What the hotline uses
The number your phone presents as caller ID, the date and length of the call, which recordings played, and your classification history. Returning callers are recognized so you keep the same status through the season.
The Naughty or Nice list
The hotline turns your number into a salted cryptographic hash (a scrambled code) and files your classification under that code. The list and its activity log contain no readable phone numbers. Your history is only kept so you are recognized in future seasons.
No AI on the Other End of the Line
AI was used to create the characters’ voices, but those recordings were generated ahead of time as a one-time process.
During your call, no AI is listening, generating responses, or processing your information. The whole experience runs on privately operated servers using prerecorded audio and custom-built software. No caller audio, phone numbers, or call data are shared with AI services.
It’s all scripted, programmed, and maintained by a real human who has spent a frankly unreasonable amount of time making North Pole bureaucracy a reality.
The telephone system
- The phone system keeps standard call records: caller number, time, and duration. These are deleted automatically after 13 months.
- Technical logs also include caller numbers and are cleared after about a week.
- The hotline admin can see caller numbers and call history in a private, sign-in-protected admin page. It exists to fix problems and see what happened on a call. Numbers are cleared from it for anyone who hasn’t called since before the current season began, unless the person who runs the hotline has added a note.
- Our phone provider carries the calls and sees caller numbers, as any carrier does.
- Routine backups of these systems include copies of the same records until those backups age out.
What isn’t collected
- Calls are not recorded or transcribed. The hotline listens only for keypad presses.
- Blocked caller ID: the hotline cannot recognize you, so every call is treated as a first visit. The phone system still logs that a call occurred.
- Nothing is sold, and no one will call you back.
